Customize the appearance of your live chat widget
You can now fully customize your live chat widget with the latest Rocket.Chat 6.7 release. Change its complete look, including the logo, colors, and the widget placement for total brand consistency across your sites. This also gives your site visitors and users a much better experience.
To give your brand a complete look, you can adjust widget elements such as:
- Widget button/icon: replace the default icon with your company’s logo.
- Background color: choose from the preset options or add a custom color that aligns with your brand.
- Widget button/icon position: choose to have the logo positioned either to the left or right.
- Remove the ‘Powered by Rocket.Chat’ logo from the widget.
- Hide avatars: decide whether you want to show avatars of your agent or visitor during the chat.
- Hide system messages: you can pick the system messages you’d prefer not to display in the live chat widget, or opt not to show any system messages at all.
These enhancements are available across all premium plans, and all these settings can be managed directly from Administration > Omnichannel > Live chat appearance or via the live chat widget’s API. The Set theme options method now comes with extra attributes for even more customization.
External system messages are another way to provide a more personalized customer experience on your website. In addition to static trigger messages, users can now automate contextual system messages via webhooks from an external services API. This includes visitor-specific metadata like name, age, email, and more which further personalizes the customer's experience on your website. You can manage it directly from Administration > Omnichannel > Live chat triggers or configure via new widget API method: SetGuestMetadata.
Usability upgrades
1. We've made hyperlinking your text easier with a new formatter shortcut - say goodbye to using parentheses for hyperlinks. Instead, select the text, hit the Insert Link icon in the Composer toolbar and add the desired URL. This new feature makes linking in messages a breeze!
2. For improved user experience, we've made the first column of the permission panel static. This ensures that the permission names remain in view while users scroll across various roles.
3. We've improved message viewing by displaying the date on all messages in a room or thread while scrolling. This means you'll always know when a message was posted, enhancing your overall experience.
Resolved issues
- Renaming rooms is now possible, giving you more flexibility and convenience.
- Users will now be added to auto-join rooms inside teams automatically, making the team integration process smoother.
- The visibility of the Matrix homeserver domain setting is now extended to the admin panel.
- You'll now get desktop notifications for Direct Messages (DMs). This goes for all notification preferences — whether set at user or room level. Basically, if you choose to get notifications for Mentions, you'll get them for your DMs too.
