Rocket.Chat 3.17.0 is here with many new exciting features and improvements. To give you a clearer view of what’s new, we listed the major updates about Team Collaboration, Omnichannel Customer Engagament & Marketplace – check it out below! To see all release notes, click here.

Team Collaboration Updates

Manage Federation From Admin Panel

Using the Federation feature is now easier than ever as we added a new section inside the administration panel. The new area helps admins ensure the federation feature is properly set/enabled on their workspace, as well as guiding them on how to invite their first federated users to the server.

Engagement Dashboard Improvements

When the engagement dashboard came about, admins could only pick one default timezone — UTC. To increase data accuracy, we improved that: now, users can have their dashboard data displayed in their local timezone or UTC. We’ve also corrected the total number of users being shown on the dashboard.

To choose your timezone, simply click on the drop-down menu at the top of the Dashboard:

Convert Teams into Channels

Great news if you have turned a channel into a Team and would like to revert it. Now, you can easily convert a team back into a channel, keeping all information from a previous Team saved for future reference.

Omnichannel Customer Engagement Updates

New Canned Responses

Canned responses are saved replies that help agents save time by fastly tackling common issues. In Release 3.17, the feature was expanded to allow users to set responses as public, private, or shared across departments. This helps companies organize responses according to different audiences, ensuring agents follow their customer communication guidelines.

Marketplace Updates

New Webhook for Publishers

Marketplace publishers can now receive updates about their apps, including new purchases. To obtain those, simply register a webhook endpoint link to your Rocket.Chat Publisher account. Here’s how you can do it:

  • Already a Rocket.Chat app publisher? Simply add/edit the webhook endpoint inside your “Publisher info” dashboard.
  • New app publisher? Don’t worry: the app registration will display an optional field to set the webhook.

How To Update Your Workspace To Version 3.17?

  • Cloud-hosted workspaces: The release happens automatically on our cloud, so no further action is required from your side. Remember that upgrading instances might take a few weeks, so please reach out to our support team if you need to update your version sooner.
  • Self-managed workspaces: Depending on the installation mode, you might need to update your server manually. Check out our documentation for instructions.
